TrueWash is a foaming face wash built on a cleansing-oil base. It dissolves the day's excess sebum instead of scrubbing it off with charcoal and sulfates, so your skin has no reason to overcompensate an hour later. You pump it, add water, it foams. Nothing about your routine changes.

Strong foaming surfactants do not sort sebum from the lipids that hold your barrier together. They take both. Research published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology measured a clear rise in transepidermal water loss after a single wash with a surfactant-rich cleanser. A weakened barrier is read by the skin as a problem to fix, and the sebaceous glands answer by producing more. Dermatology calls that reactive seborrhea. Most men just call it a greasy afternoon.

Sebum is an oil, and oils dissolve into each other. Squalane and jojoba lift the excess off your skin and take it down the drain, while the lipids your barrier is built from stay where they are. Draelos summarised the principle in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology in 2018: the cleanser's job is to remove the surplus without disturbing the structure.

Five ingredients doing five jobs.
Squalane
The oil phase that does the cleansing. Close to skin's own sebum, so it dissolves the surplus without adding weight, and rated non-comedogenic.
Jojoba oil
A liquid wax ester rather than a triglyceride. It carries the dissolved sebum out and keeps the texture thin enough to spread on a dry face.
Cajuput and lemongrass
Distilled in Vietnam, used at cosmetic levels for a clean finish on skin that clogs easily. The same two oils run through our other formulas.
Centella asiatica
Included because the whole point of this wash is the barrier. Centella is the standard dermatology choice for keeping a cleanse calm.
Coco-glucoside, low level
The one gentle emulsifier, kept as low as the foam allows. It is what turns oil into lather when water arrives, and what lets it rinse clean.
Not in the bottle
Activated charcoal, SLS and SLES, alcohol denat, physical scrub grit, added fragrance, and essential oils above cosmetic use levels. Those are the ingredients most oil-control washes lead with, and they are the ones that start the loop.
One honest limit
An oil-based cleanser is not the right choice for fungal folliculitis, which looks like acne but is not. If your breakouts are uniform, itchy and clustered on the chest, shoulders or hairline, see a dermatologist first. An oil, on skin that is already oily?
That is exactly the point. Like dissolves like: an oil is the most effective way to lift another oil off skin, and the excess leaves with the rinse. Squalane and jojoba are both rated non-comedogenic, so nothing is left behind to clog.
Do I need a second cleanser after it?
No. The coco-glucoside in the formula makes it self-foaming, so it emulsifies and rinses on its own. That is what separates this from the two-step oil-cleansing method, and it is why the routine stays one step.
How long until I notice a difference?
The after-wash feeling changes on day one: clean without tightness. The midday shine is a barrier question, so give it two to three weeks of twice-daily use before you judge it. If it has not helped by then, send it back.
Will it take off sunscreen and sweat after training?
Yes. Sunscreen filters are oil-soluble, which is where a cleansing-oil base has the advantage over a foaming gel. Use it on a dry face before you add water and give it fifteen seconds.
Beard, sensitive skin, fragrance?
Fine through a beard, and the oil phase makes it easier on the skin underneath than a foaming gel. No added fragrance, no dye, no drying alcohol. Patch test on your jaw first if your skin reacts easily.
How long does one bottle last?
