VIETNAT Scalp Cleanse Shampoo for Men is a sulfate-free daily shampoo for the skin under your hair, built around piroctone olamine at 0.5 to 1% with rosemary extract, biotin and niacinamide.
Hair gets washed. The scalp underneath it usually does not. This is a shampoo for the oil, the flake and the styling buildup that sit around the follicle between showers.
It foams less than what you are used to, and that is the sulfate not being there. Foam is a surfactant showing off; it has nothing to do with how clean a scalp is.
Sulfate-free or an active ingredient. Everyone else makes you pick.

Comparison drawn from our own category review plus published ingredient panels, July 2026. It describes the category, not one named competitor.
What is in it
Active one · anti-buildup
Piroctone Olamine 0.5–1%
Compared directly against 1% ketoconazole and 1% zinc pyrithione for hair shedding by Piérard-Franchimont et al., 2002. It is a cosmetic ingredient, not a regulated drug, and it tolerates daily use better than the older options.
Active two · antioxidant
Rosemary Rosmarinus officinalis extract
The 2015 SKINmed trial by Panahi et al. studied rosemary oil on the scalp over six months. We cite the study, not a result for this bottle — that is research on the oil.
The supporting cast
Biotin + Niacinamide with panthenol
The scalp-environment ingredients every serious shampoo in this category carries, plus a low dose of peppermint for a cool — not stinging — finish.
Three things the base does not have
- No SLS or SLES. Coconut-derived surfactants instead. A scalp you wash every day cannot take a sulfate every day.
- No zinc pyrithione. The older anti-dandruff active, now classified CMR 1B and restricted in the EU.
- No drug actives, and no pretending. No ketoconazole, no minoxidil, no salicylic acid. This is a cosmetic shampoo and it stays inside that line.

How to use — lather, wait sixty seconds, rinse
| 01 |
Two pumps into wet hair, then get to the skin. Fingertips on the scalp, not nails. It is the scalp being washed; the hair is along for the ride. |
| 02 |
Leave it there for sixty seconds. Piroctone olamine needs contact time. This is the step most people skip, and the one that makes the difference. |
| 03 |
Rinse fully. Daily is fine. No sulfate means less foam and no squeaky, tight finish. Rinse until the hair feels clean rather than stripped. |
The bottle
300 ml, matte, on a pump. Eight to ten weeks of daily washes, one-handed in the shower, no cap to fumble and drop. The bottle is opaque HDPE because light degrades botanical actives, and the two things that matter — sulfate-free, piroctone olamine — are on the blue band rather than buried in the back panel.
What it does not do
It is a cosmetic shampoo. It does not regrow hair, it does not reverse hair loss, and it does not replace minoxidil or finasteride if you need them. Sudden or patchy shedding is a conversation for a doctor, not a shower product.
